Red Raiders in Fifth After Round One in Florida

Three different Red Raiders rank among the top-15 individuals at the Heroes Ladies Intercollegiate
LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 14 Texas Tech women's golf team finished day one of the Heroes Ladies Intercollegiate in a tie for fifth place as three Red Raiders rank among the top-15 individuals following one round at the Founders Club in Sarasota, Florida.

Cecilie Nielsen led the way for Tech after signing an even-par 70 card that included a 3-under back nine to place her in a tie for 10th overall. Sofia Garcia and Anna Dong were right behind as they both recorded 1-over 73 rounds to place in a tie for 15th individually.

As a team, the Red Raiders concluded round one with a combined 6-over 294 to place in a tie for fifth and only two strokes behind fourth place Northwestern.

Ole Miss sits atop the leaderboard as the only team to finish the opening round under-par at 4-under 284, while fellow Big 12 competitor Oklahoma State is in second at even-par and four strokes behind the Rebels. Iowa State sits in third, one stroke better than fourth place Northwestern.

Gala Dumez added the Red Raiders' final counting score with a 4-over card, while Amy Taylor signed for a 5-over 77 to round out the Tech lineup. Â
