Aberg Selected to Haskins Award Watch List

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech sophomore Ludvig Aberg has been named to the Haskins Award Watch List which was selected by a panel of Golfweek and Golf Channel writers.
Aberg is No. 5 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking after starting the spring season strong with a win at The Prestige and taking fifth at the Cabo Collegiate last week at TPC San Antonio for the Red Raiders. He also won the Jones Cup Invitational before the collegiate season began. A Sweden native, Aberg secured his first collegiate win at The Prestige by shooting 4-under at the event and then soared up the leaderboard at the Cabo Collegiate after posting a final round 7-under. He would finish fifth at the event to secure two straight top-5s to begin the spring and is one of two Big 12 players on the list.
Along with Aberg, the Haskins Awards Watch List includes Jacob Bridgeman (Clemson), Michael Brennan (Wake Forest), Michael Feagles (Illinois), Nick Gabrelcik (North Florida), Ryan Hall (South Carolina), Dylan Menante (Pepperdine), William Moll (Vanderbilt), Vincent Norman (Florida State), John Pak (Florida State), Trent Phillips (Georgia), David Puig (Arizona State), Davis Thompson (Georgia), Patrick Welch (Oklahoma) and Kieran Vincent (Liberty).
Aberg and the Red Raiders return to competition on Monday at the George Hannon Invitational in Austin which is being played at the University of Texas Golf Club and Academy. The third spring tournament of the season will be played on Monday and Tuesday and will be followed by the Red Raiders playing at the Old Waverly Collegiate on March 26-28 in West Point, Mississippi. Four tournaments remain before the Big 12 Championship on April 26-28 in Hutchinson, Kansas.
