Armijo becomes the sixth transfer to sign with Texas Tech for the 2022 season.
LUBBOCK, Texas – The offseason additions keep coming in for Texas Tech softball head coach Sami Ward who announced the signing of UCLA transfer Carson Armijo on Friday.
"We are adding a big bat and a great team player with Carson," said Ward. "Carson will not be outworked. She loves hitting and has a great growth mindset. We can't wait for her to join our team!"
The Plano, Texas native returns to her home state with three years of eligibility remaining after spending her freshman season with the Bruins, who ended their season at the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City. She saw action in one game during the 2021 season.
Prior to her time in Los Angeles, Armijo was a two-sport standout at Plano East High School in both softball and track and field. On the diamond, Armijo was a versatile athlete, playing first base, outfield and pitching. She was twice the recipient of All-Area First Team honors and was named District 6-6A Newcomer of the Year and DFW Freshman Pitcher of the Year in 2017. In a shortened senior season, Armijo was named Plano East Senior HS Athlete of the Year, Team MVP and Offensive Player of the Year after batting .567 with seven home runs, six doubles and 26 RBI in just 12 games. Armijo was also a four-year letter earner on the track and field team where she competed in both shotput and discus, breaking her high school record in the discus.
Armijo is the latest Tech signee joining LMU transfers Riley Ehlen, Molly Grumbo, Page Mindedahl, Nevada transfer Kendall Fritz and Oklahoma transfer Olivia Rains on the Red Raider Roster.
