No. 11 Red Raiders to begin spring season in Hawaii

LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 11-ranked Texas Tech men's golf team will open its 2022 spring schedule this weekend at 31st annual Amer Ari Invitational in Waimea, Hawaii. The Red Raiders will be represented in the tournament by Ludvig Aberg, Baard Skogen, Garrett Martin, Andy Lopez and Calum Scott.
Being played at the Hapuna Golf Course, the three-day, 54-hole tournament begins on Thursday morning before the championship round on Saturday. Pairings and tee times have not been announced.
A junior from Eslov, Sweden, Aberg is currently No. 3 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and is coming off a fall where he not only competed for the Red Raiders but also played in two PGA Tour events. Skogen put together a strong fall season to begin his sophomore year, including tying for the Maridoe title before finishing as runner-up in a playoff.
The tournament also features No. 2 North Carolina, No. 3 Arizona State, No. 4 Oklahoma State, No. 6 Pepperdine, No. 7 Stanford, No. 8 Texas, No. 20 Georgia Tech, TCU, UCLA, Oregon, Washington, Pacific, Auburn, San Jose State, Hawai and Hawaii-Hilo.
Tech has not played since finishing second at the Big 12 Match Play Tournament in mid-October after taking fourth-place finishes at The Carmel Cup and Maridoe in the fall season. The Red Raiders will follow up the trip to Hawaii by playing at The Prestige from Feb. 21-23 in Laquinta, California and then at the Cabo Collegiate in Los Cabos, Mexico at the end of the month. The spring season culminates at the Big 12 Championship on April 25-27 in Trinity, Texas before the NCAA Postseason.
