Calum Scott, Aberg in top-10 at Thunderbird Collegiate

PHOENIX, Arizona – Texas Tech freshman Calum Scott and junior Ludvig Aberg are in the top-10 at the Thunderbird Collegiate after 36 holes on Friday to help the No. 7 Red Raiders remain in contention going into the final round on Saturday at the Papago Golf Course.
The Red Raiders are at 10-under which has them going into the final round in fifth and nine back of tournament leader No. 4 Arizona State (19-under). No. 1 Oklahoma (-17), No. 2 Oklahoma State (-16) and No. 32 New Mexico (11-under) are currently ahead of Tech with 18 holes to play.Â
Scott is at 6-under-par and in fifth individually after posting a 5-under, 66 in his second round of the tournament on Friday. Aberg is one shot back at 5-under after posting 67-70 on the first of two days of the final regular-season tournament of the year. Scott's 5-under second round included four birdies and an eagle on the par-5, 542-yard No. 9 hole. He would go 2-under on the back-9 to go into the final round just four strokes back of the tournament leader, Jose Luis Ballester (Arizona State) who is at 10-under after rounds of 67-65.
Carl Didrik Meen Fosaas is at even-par after his two rounds, shooting a 74 to begin the day before storming back to card a 3-under, 68 to close out the day. Meen Fosaas recorded seven birdies in his second round. Tech senior Andy Lopez is at 3-over after shooting 76-69, while Baard Skogen is also at 3-over following rounds of 74-71. Skogen shot even-par in his second round by splitting three birdies and three bogeys.
As a team, Tech is currently at No. 7 in the Golfstat rankings, No. 9 in the Golfweek ratings and at No. 8 in the most recent Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll. The Red Raiders will return to Texas after the Thunderbird Collegiate to compete in the Big 12 Championship in Trinity, Texas from April 25-27 before the NCAA Tournament.
