LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech head golf coach Greg Sands has announced the addition of Ethan Davidson and Tyran Snyders who are a pair of transfers joining the program next season. Davidson is transferring from Sacramento State, while Snyders played the last two seasons at Memphis. Â
Snyders was named to the American Athletic Conference's All-AAC Team last season as a sophomore after posting seven top-20 finishes, including a season-best third-place showing at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational. A South Africa native, he was 7-under-par at the Steelwood tournament and also took fourth at the Quail Valley/Jake Owen Collegiate where he was 10-under. He had three top-10 finishes during the season after one top-10 during his freshman season. Snyders is currently at No. 147 in the Golfstat individual rankings.
Before Memphis, Snyders won the 41st Boys Junior North and South Championship at Pinehurst Country Club where he was 4-under. He was a two-time winner in South Africa on the Premier Tour with wins at the Steenberg Open and Erinvale Open.
Davidson earned Big Sky Player of the Year last season after setting the Sacramento State school record with a 71.18 stroke average last season. A Calabasas, California native, he was a three-time All-Big Sky selection in four seasons at the school where he had a 72.82 career average and won the 2021 Big Sky Championship with a final round of 67 to win by one stroke. Davidson led Sacramento State in 19 tournaments played in his career, including winning the Nick Watney Invitational last season for his second collegiate victory. Davidson has recorded seven top-5s and has posted a 65 in two rounds. Â
Davidson finished 19th at the 2022 Big Sky Championship by carding 75-74-72 – 221 at the Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona in his final tournament at Sacramento State.
Snyders and Davidson join Matthew Comegys in the signing class. Comegys won the 2022 Class 6A State Championship earlier this month to complete his senior season at Plano West Senior High.
