WTEN draws Norman Pod for 2023 ITA Kickoff Weekend

The four-team pod includes OU, Tech, Tulsa and Minnesota
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech women's tennis program will open the 2023 ITA Kickoff weekend at Big 12 Conference foe Oklahoma Jan. 29-30, the ITA announced Thursday.
Texas Tech's pod includes host and No. 2 overall seed OU, No. 46 Tulsa and 57th-ranked Minnesota.
The action begins on the 29th when Tech clashes with Tulsa.
Friday's action also includes OU facing off against Minnesota.
The two winners of Friday's match will meet on Saturday for the right to advance to the 2023 ITA Indoor Team Championships hosted by the University of Washington while the two losers will meet in a consolation match also on Saturday.
Tech returns five of six starters from a season ago, including All-Big 12 First Team selection Margarita Skriabina, nationally-ranked freshman Avelina Sayfetdinova and 20-match winner Metka Komac.
Earlier in the month, Tech's 2023 recruiting class was ranked as the top class in the Big 12 and No. 10 overall.
The Lady Raiders will look to advance to the NCAA Tournament for the 11th consecutive season in 2022-23 and will look to win an NCAA Tournament match for the fifth time in six years.

• Tulsa went 17-8 a season ago, finishing third in the American Athletic Conference. The Hurricane saw their season end at the hands of Memphis in the ACC title match.
• The 2022 Big 12 Regular Season Champions, Oklahoma went 32-3 in 2021-22 including a perfect 17-0 at home.
•The national runner up in 2022, OU fell to Texas in both the Big 12 Championship match and in the NCAA Championship. The Sooners were led by Florida transfer Layne Sleeth and sisters Carmen and Ivana Corley. Tech fell to OU 5-2 in the lone matchup between the two teams in 2022.
• The fourth and final team in Norman pod, Minnesota, are coming off an 18-10 season. The Gophers did not reach the NCAA postseason after falling to Ohio State in the Big Ten Conference Tournament.
