Tech places three on ITA Texas Regional team, checks in at No. 4 overall

Margarita Skriabina, Avelina Sayfetdinova and Metka Komac all honored
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech women's tennis checked in at No. 4 overall in the final ITA Regional (Texas) rankings, while Margarita Skriabina, Avelina Sayfetdinova and Metka Komac all were ranked inside the top-20 of the ITA Texas rankings.
Tech made its 10th consecutive appearance in the field of 64, and won a match in the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in the last six tournaments. The Lady Raiders also won at least 15 matches for the 10th full season in-a-row.
Tech played just 12 matches in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Moving up to the top-line for the first time in her career, Skriabina had a major breakout season in 2021-22. The Russian went 14-9 overall including an impressive 7-6 against nationally-ranked opponents. With all of her success at
No.1, Skriabina peaked as high as No. 16 in the ITA rankings and became just the third player in program history to advance to the NCAA Individual Championships.
A First Team All-Big 12 selection, Skriabina announced her intentions to return to Tech for the 2022-23 season back in May.
Tech's second player ranked inside the Top-20 of the ITA rankings, Sayfetdinova, made a major impact in her true freshman year. A mainstay at line-three, Avi recorded a record of 12-9 in 2021-22 including a 7-3 mark in her final 10 matches. Sayfetdinova won a pair of ranked matches including a straight-set victory over Oklahoma's Ivana Corley.
The third and final ranked player in the ITA Texas rankings, Komac, was one of the most consistent players in the Big 12 this season. The native of Slovenia rolled to a dominate 20-7 mark overall and went 8-1 in her final 10 matches. The junior was an impressive 11-2 this season playing on court four, and won 10 of her final 12 matches that were completed.
Tech returns five of six starters from a year ago, including all three All-Region honorees and will add three impact players ahead of the 2022-23 season. FIU transfer Andjela Skrobonja joins blue-chip freshmen Yekaterina Dmitrichenko and Ozlem Uslu in the class.
Earlier in the week, Tech's class was ranked as the 10th-best recruiting class in the country and the best in the Big 12. That ranking did not include the addition of Dmitrichenko who was announced on Tuesday.
