Aberg and Snyders power No. 3 Tech on Day One

The Red Raiders sit fourth overall at -4, four shots behind leader Pepperdine
LA QUINTA, Calif. – Powered by a pair of rounds of 66 by Ludivg Aberg and Tyran Snyders, the No. 3 ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders sit in fourth place (-4) after 18 holes of the 54-hole Prestige hosted by UC Davis and Stanford at the Greg Norman Course at PGA WEST.
The top-ranked player in the PGA TOUR U rankings, Aberg, fired his 41st career round of 69 or better on Monday afternoon, using a bogey free back-nine 33 to finish the day at -4 overall.
Snyders also completed a bogey-free back nine, using six birdies and just one bogey to fire identical nine-hole scores of 33 to tie his career-best round (66).
Snyders and Thorbjornsen sit just one shot behind William Mouw of Pepperdine. Mouw fired an opening round 65 to enjoy the 18-hole lead.
Ahead of Tuesday's second round, the Red Raiders find themselves in striking distance of both No. 15 Pepperdine (-8) and No. 6 Stanford (-7).
The Waves received below par rounds from three-of-five players, including the aforementioned 65 from Mouw, while Stanford used the 66 from Thorbjornsen to enjoy solo second.
Big 12 rival TCU is one-shot ahead of the Red Raiders at -5, followed by No. 21 (Baylor (-3), LMU (-2) and No. 22 Colorado State (+1).
Host UC Davis sits in solo eighth at +2 overall, while Louisville (+5) and San Francisco (+6) round out the top-10.
Northwestern and Iowa State are tied for 11th (+7), with Oregon State (+8), Washington State (+9), Charlotte (+10), Kansas (+12), Liberty (+12), No. 28 LSU (+13) and North Texas (+18) rounding out the top-20.
Cal Poly (+16), Creighton (+23), Nebraska (+23) and Princeton (+28) round out the 24-team field.
