LUBBOCK, Texas – After posting an impressive 10-hit weekend at the plate, Makinzy Herzog has been named the Big 12 Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Herzog led a Texas Tech offense that posted 57 runs en route to five straight victories of five or more runs. The Missouri City, Texas native batted at a .714 clip with 10 hits, including two doubles and two home runs, eight RBIs and a 1.285 slugging percentage.
Â
The 5th-year senior opened the weekend with a bang Friday night going a perfect 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored in the night cap versus Manhattan. Herzog's hot streak continued into Saturday's contest against the Jaspers, where she blasted a grand slam to kick start a streak of 13 unanswered runs.
Â
Against New Mexico Saturday, Herzog was again perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored. She capped off her impressive weekend Sunday with a go-ahead two-run homer that gave Tech the lead for good against the Lobos.
Â
Herzog and the Red Raiders return to action today in a midweek doubleheader against No. 25 Texas State. Game one is set for 2 p.m.
