Playing as an amateur, the senior finished at -2 overall
ORLANDO – Battling a field that included over 40 of the top-50 golfers in the official World Golf Rankings, Texas Tech senior Ludvig Aberg finished the PGA TOURs Arnold Palmer Invitational at -2 overall, Sunday.
The top golfer in the PGA TOUR U Rankings, Aberg battled one of the toughest courses on the PGA TOUR recording back-to-back rounds of 73 after opening the championship with a pair of 70s.
Sitting at -5 overall midway through the day Saturday, Aberg found himself just two shots behind eventual champion Kurt Kitayama.
Aberg led the field in strokes gained during the first 36 holes to make his first career cut at a PGA TOUR event.
He earned the exemption to this year's event after being voted by his Team International teammates after leading Team International to the 2022 Palmer Cup in Switzerland.
This week's event at Bay Hill is the second of three professional events Aberg is slated to play in this spring after already competing at the DP TOURs Dubai Hero Classic.
In two weeks' time the native of Sweden will tee it up at the Valspar Championships (Mar. 13-19) at the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort.
