Snyders, Comegys pace Tech on Day two in Cabo

Comegys fired a 68 to sit solo third, Snyders tied his career-best round of 66
SAN CABO, Mexico – On the backs of a 66 from Memphis transfer Tyran Snyders and a 68 from freshman Matthew Comegys, No. 2 Texas Tech men's golf fired a day two 279 (-5) to move into solo third place after 36 holes of the Cabo Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Arkansas at the Twin Dolphin Golf Club.
After struggling in the opening round, Snyders completely flipped the script Monday, firing the career-best 66 that featured six birdies and just one bogey. After firing a birdie and a bogey through the first four holes, Snyders caught fire on the back-half of the round using five birdies in his final eight holes to move to +1 for the week.
Tech's other strong performer, Comegys, continued his strong week. After firing an opening round of 70 (-1) the Texan used an eagle on No. 13 to fire a day-two 68. The freshman finds himself at -4 overall/solo third place.
Comegys trails duo of Wells Williams and Matthew Riedel by two shots headinginto the final day. Williams fired a bogey-free 65 while Riedel recorded his second-straight round of 68 to finish at -6.
The top-ranked Commadores enjoy a 13-shot lead over No. 44 Ole Miss who sits in solo second at -2 for the week. Tech is in solo third one-shot back (-1) with No. 3 Arizona State one shot back at even par.
Host Arkansas is in solo fifth at +10 overall followed by No. 9 FSU (+11), No. 19 Arizona (+12) and No. 4 Stanford (+12). Baylor and Houston are tied for ninth at +16, followed by No. 18 Oklahoma State (+18), No. 14 Tennessee (+28), No. 17 Alabama (+28), Abilene Christian (+55) and Rice (+56).
Tech's other top-15 player this week is senior Jack Wall who followed up a one-under round of 70 with a one-over round of 72. Wall is tied for 15th one shot clear his teammate Snyders who is in solo 17th at +1 overall.
