Tech sits in first after 36 holes in New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --Â The No. 17-ranked Texas Tech men's golf program finished the first 36 holes of the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in first place (-18) on Monday evening. Â
Tech closed out the first day with an 8-under-par 280 in the second round after firing a round one 10-under-par 278 in the morning. The Red Raiders own a two-shot lead over host New Mexico looking toward Tuesday's final round in a tournament that features five nationally-ranked opponents in the Golf Week Rankings.
Senior Tyran Snyders led the Red Raiders shooting 5-under-par (67) in the first round and then a 4-under-par (68) in the second round. Snyders sits at 9-under-par with a total score of 135. He is currently at the top of the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate leaderboard holding a two-shot lead.
Calum Scott finished the day T-8 shooting a 5-under-par 139 over the first two rounds. In his first round, Scott shot a 69 (-3) and a 70 (-2) in round two, with a total score of 139.Â
Matthew Comegys finished rounds one and two 3-under-par with a total score of 141. In round one Comegys shot a 71 (-1) and in round two Comegys had six birdies to record a score of 70 (-2). Â
Freshman Ben Gregg, who traveled to Albuquerque to play as an individual, sits at T-19 with a 2-under-par 142. Baard Skogen, also under-par for the tournament, sits at T-26 with a 1-under-par 143. Skogen shot a 71 (-1) in round one and an even-par (72) in the second round of day one. Â
Using the scores of Snyders, Scott, Comegys, and Skogen, the Red Raiders are in sole possession of first place after day one of the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate.
