Tech in fifth entering final round of NEXUS Collegiate

Kylee Loewe’s 71 highlighted a challenging day at Albany Golf Club as the Red Raiders closed the second round of the NEXUS Collegiate in 5th place.
NASSAU, Bahamas - The Texas Tech women's golf program wrapped up round two of the NEXUS Collegiate on Tuesday in fifth place, led by a 1-under-par 71 from Kylee Loewe. The Red Raiders recorded a team score of 13-over-par (301) in round two to bring their 36-hole total to a 15-over-par 591 heading into Wednesday's final round.
The course at Albany Golf Club proved challenging for the field of 11 teams on Tuesday. Every team finished round two over par, including nine teams recording scores at least six strokes over par. Beyond the team struggles across the board, the difficulty of the course was highlighted by only eight individuals finishing the round below par as the course average checked in at 75.82 on Tuesday.
One of those eight players was Loewe, who recorded her third career round below par on Tuesday. The junior from Scottsdale, Arizona fired a 1-under-par 71 to lead the Red Raiders. Loewe's eight birdies over the first two rounds, including six today, are tied for the eighth most among the field of 66 players. After recording a 4-over-par 76 in the first round on Monday, Loewe's impressive second round brings her to 3-over-par (147) for the tournament, placing her tied for 12th place on the individual leaderboard.
Another strong performance for Tech came from Klara Hurtova, who turned in a 1-over-par 73 in round two, aided by two pairs of back-to-back birdies at holes no. 5 and 6 and holes no. 14 and 15. The other two scores countable towards the Texas Tech team total came from Maja Ambroziak, who recorded a 6-over-par 78, and Lauren Zaretsky, who finished with a 7-over-par 79. Despite a difficult day for the pair, Zaretsky sits tied for 14th place and Ambroziak finds herself tied for 20th place after the second round.
The Red Raiders will aim to catch Kentucky in the final round, who lead the tournament at 3-over-par after recording a 6-over-par 294 in round two.
Texas Tech will conclude the NEXUS Collegiate with round three on Wednesday at 6:45 a.m. central time.
