Tech re-claims No. 1 ranking following Big 12s

The 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships will take place March 7-9 in Boston
NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Texas Tech men re-claimed the nation's No. 1 spot Tuesday afternoon in the week six rankings released by the USTFCCCA. The women's side slid four spots, dropping to No. 9.

Last week, Tech fell to No. 2 for the first time this indoor season but following a first-place performance at the Big 12 Championships, gained the top spot back.

Including a 4x400 relay team, the Red Raiders crowned four total champions this past weekend – 200m, 60m and 5000m – en route to a team total of 152 points, 60 points ahead of second place. The win gave Tech its second-straight conference indoor title and third-straight overall dating back to last season (2023 indoor, 2023 outdoor).

Caleb Dean was named the meet's High Point Winner as he helped tally 17.5 points between the 60m hurdles (tied second place), 60m (second place) and 4x400 (first place.)

The women's side crowned to individual champions in Rosemary Chukwuma (60m) and Temitope Adeshina (high jump). The collective group placed second overall scoring 104 points. Highlights included Chukwuma, Alyssa Colbert and Success Umukoro going 1-2-3 in the 60m final. In the women's triple jump, four Red Raiders scored, led by Ruta Lasmane's second-place finish.

Tech will have the week off before leaving for Boston next Tuesday, Mar. 5 for the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships (Mar. 7-9) taking place at the TRACK at New Balance.
