No. 4 Tech sits in second after day one at Inverness

TOLEDO, Ohio – The No. 4 Texas Tech men's golf team sits in second place, just three shots off the lead, after the first two rounds on Monday at the Inverness Intercollegiate. The Red Raiders were led by the duo of freshman Connor Graham and sophomore Tim Wiedemeyer, who are both under par after 36 holes, and each in the individual top 10.
Graham and Wiedemeyer are both 1-under-par (137) through two rounds. Graham fired a 2-under-par 67 in the first collegiate round of his career, and followed with a 1-over 70 at the uniquely short 6,972-yard, par 69 Inverness Club course. Wiedemeyer opened the first round with a 2-over 71 but answered in the second round with an impressive 3-under-par 66, including a team-lead six birdies.
Sophomore Ben Gregg, and senior Charles DeLong, both found themselves in the top 15 after the first 36 holes. Each shot an even par of 138 on the first day. Gregg, who is competing as an individual, finished first among the group of 15 playing as individuals. He leads that group by two strokes going into the final round.
As a team, the Red Raiders carded a 1-over-par 553 on Monday. Tech trails Auburn, the No. 1-ranked team and defending national champion, by three strokes entering Tuesday's final round.
