February 03, 2025 | Women's Golf
BOCA RATON, Fla. – Led by the duo of Maja Ambroziak and Klara Hurtova on Monday, the Texas Tech women's golf team sits in a tie for fifth place after the first 36 holes of the FAU Paradise Invitational at Osprey Point Golf Course. The field of 15 teams, and 78 golfers, has one round remaining set to start at 7 a.m. (CST) on Tuesday morning.Â
Ambroziak and Hurtova are both in the Top 15 after Monday's competition, both at 2-under-par, tied for 15th-place.
Ambroziak was hot from the start, dropping to 4-under-par after her first 11 holes of the first round. She had four birdies in a five-hole stretch between holes 14 and 18, which included two Par 3's, one Par 4 and one Par 5 that she converted into birdies. Her single bogey in the first round came on hole No. 1, a 490-yard Par 5, before bouncing back to shoot 1-under on the final six holes. She completed her first 18 holes with a single-round season-low 4-under 68.
Ambroziak shot a 2-over-par 74 on her second go-around Osprey Point Golf Course on Monday, she again was strong on the back nine, but was 2-over on the front side, to cap the first 36 holes at 2-under-par (144). She'll aim for her fourth tournament this season to finish under par on Tuesday.Â
Meanwhile, Hurtova shot a 1-over-par 73 in the opening round before firing her third round in the 60s this season with a 3-under 69 in the second round. She tallied seven birdies on Monday, four coming in the second round negated by one bogey. Her bogey came on her fifth hole of the second round, only to answer with a 13-hole bogey-free stretch coupled with three birdies to complete her day on a high note.Â
Kylee Loewe, who sits in a tie for 21st, opened with a season-low 4-under 68. Her first round was bogey-free with four birdies. Loewe's second round was a 4-over 76, dropping her into 21st after ending the first round in a tie for eighth place.
