Graham's trio of eagles keep Tech in the hunt

WAIMEA, Hawai'i – Freshman Connor Graham's stunning performance on Friday, sinking three eagles in a single round, pushed the freshman into the top 10 and helped keep the Red Raiders toward the top of the team leaderboard after the second round of the Amer Ari Invitational at Mauna Lani's North Course.

Graham fired a 6-under-par 66 thanks to his impressive three eagles coming on the second (Par 5, 521 yards), seventh (Par 5, 528 yards) and 15th holes (Par 5, 498 yards). The freshman is 10-under-par after 36 holes and six shots back from the lead in a competitive field of 123 participants.

Sophomore Price Hill made the biggest move on moving day for the Red Raiders on Friday. He rose 21 places on the leaderboard, into a tie for 53rd after a 3-under-par 69 performance, a rebound from Thursday's 72 (E) and sitting in a tie for 74th. Friday's 3-under 69 was Hill's lowest round of the 2024-25 season.

Senior Charlie DeLong and sophomore Tim Wiedemeyer both had strong performances in the second round for the Red Raiders. DeLong fired a 1-under-par 71 and is in a tie for 42nd going into the final round. Wiedemeyer shot an even-par 72 to round out Friday's countable scores for the Red Raiders.

Overall, No. 22 Texas Tech is tied for seventh place among the 20 teams in action at 26-under-par (550) following Friday's 10-under-par 278. The Red Raiders are tied with No. 17 Pepperdine and No. 3 Auburn and sit four shots back from sixth place and five shots from fifth.

The Red Raiders continue their first event of the spring on Saturday. The final round begins at 11:30 a.m. CST, which is a shotgun start for all 20 teams.
