March 03, 2025 | Women's Golf
FAIRFAX, Calif. – The Texas Tech women's golf team completed the first 36 holes of the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational on Monday in 11th place. The Red Raiders continued to fight in the second round, carding an 11-over-par 299 after an opening round 12-over 300.
Texas Tech, one of 14 teams in action, among a heavy field of West Coast teams, including No. 1 Stanford, No. 3 Oregon and No. 4 USC, who sit 1-2-3 in the standings, trail co-host San Jose State, Nevada and Oregon State by six strokes, who are tied for eighth place, and leads UNLV by three strokes.
Senior Libby Fleming and sophomore Klara Hurtova share the team lead after two rounds, both 4-over-par (148) and tied for 29th overall among the 78 golfers in action.
It was a tough opening round for Fleming, who carded a 5-over-par 77, but round two saw stark improvement behind a 1-under 71 - her second straight tournament carding an under-par round - which was Tech's lowest round shot on Monday. Fleming dominated the front nine of the second round, shooting a 1-under bogey-free 35.
Hurtova was more steady in her play as she opened Monday with a 1-over 73 and followed with a 3-over 75. Hurtova will seek to be the Red Raiders' top 54-hole tournament performer for the second consecutive event dating back to last week's Chevron Collegiate at the Golf Club of Houston.
Maja Ambroziak's even par 72 was the top round carded in the first round. Ambroziak trails Fleming and Hurtova by one stroke after two rounds (5-over 149) and sits tied for 38th.
Play resumes on Tuesday with the third and final round; it will be a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. PST, 10:30 a.m. for those following along in Texas.
