April 30, 2025 | Women's Tennis
LUBBOCK, Texas – After leading the Lady Raiders to the Big 12 regular season title and the Big 12 Tournament title, head coach Adam Herendeen was named the Big 12 Coach of the Year announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon. In addition, four Lady Raiders earned All-Big 12 accolades in Yekaterina Dmitrichenko, Avelina Sayfetdinova, Mariia Hlahola and Hailey Murphy.
Herendeen, who is in his third season at the helm of the Lady Raiders, coached the team to a 22-2 record, two Big 12 titles (both since 2017), six top-25 victories, back-to-back 20+ win seasons and the program's 13th straight NCAA appearance. Herendeen has become the winningest coach in his first three seasons, recording 56 wins which is the most since Mickey Bowes's 49 in 1980-83.
Herendeen was named Big 12 Coach of the Year for the first time in his career. This is also the fourth time he received Coach of the Year honors during his coaching career. This season, Herendeen aided the Lady Raiders to their first top-10 victory since 2018 after downing No. 10-ranked NC State in January. He also helped Texas Tech to a program record 12 conference wins. Coaching the team to a top-15 ranking since February 20, Herendeen and the Lady Raiders will be hosting the NCAA First and Second Rounds this weekend for the sixth time in program history and first time in seven years.
Earning her first conference award is Dmitrichenko, who was named an All-Big 12 First Team Singles selection. Dmitrichenko has been on fire in singles this season – leading the Lady Raiders in total wins and dual wins. Boasting a 24-4 overall singles record and a 19-1 dual singles record, Dmitrichenko went 11-1 in Big 12 play and was a perfect 10-0 at the court two position. In addition, she leads the team with a 4-0 record over ranked opponents and clinched both Big 12 titles in the regular season and in the conference tournament.
Dmitrichenko, along with teammate Hailey Murphy, were also named All-Big 12 Second Team Doubles honorees. The duo has played at court two all season, putting together a 13-2 record at the position. Going 14-4 overall as a pair, the tandem recently picked up a win over UCF's No. 2 duo and snapped a 13-match win streak for them, helping the Lady Raiders to win the tournament championship. They are now on a seven-match win streak and went 7-2 during the Big 12 regular season.
Another doubles pair to receive conference recognition is the pairing of Mariia Hlahola and Avelina Sayfetdinova, who are All-Big 12 First Team Doubles selections. Currently ranked No. 8 in the ITA doubles rankings and holding a program record ranking of No. 4 achieved on March 18, the duo play at the top of the lineup and hold a 17-3 record there. Leading the team with 25 overall doubles wins and 17 dual doubles wins as a duo, they went 10-1 in Big 12 play and tally a team-best 11 wins over ranked doubles teams.
Sayfetdinova, who plays at court one in singles, earned All-Big 12 Second Team Singles honors for the second time of her career. The Lady Raider has played at the top of the lineup all season and picked up seven wins there as well as two against ranked opponents. One of these wins was over No. 110-ranked and 2025 Big 12 Player of the Year in UCF's Olivia Lincer as Sayfetdinova gave Lincer her first singles loss of the dual season to clinch the win over the Knights back on March 23. Â
Texas Tech will host Boston University in the first round of the NCAA Tournament this Friday at 1 p.m. at the McLeod Tennis Center.
