Red Raiders now ranked No. 1 or No. 2 in all four major polls
LUBBOCK, Texas – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its 2026 Preseason Poll on Tuesday which featured the Red Raiders at No. 2.
All four major preseason polls have been published and feature Texas Tech at either No. 1 or No. 2 with Texas being the other school at the top of the polls.
The Red Raiders and Longhorns finished the season in the championship series of the WCWS and are both the favorites to return to that series in Oklahoma City come June.
Tech returns some core players from its historic run last year including two-time Pitcher of the Year, NiJaree Canady, along with All-Big 12 First Team members Alana Johnson and Mihyia Davis. Hailey Toney, Lauren Allred, Victoria Valdez and Logan Halleman also return as Tech welcomed in some big names via the transfer portal in Mia Williams, Taylor Pannell, Kaitlyn Terry, Jasmyn Burns, Jackie Lis, Desirae Spearman and Lagi Quiroga.
The Red Raiders open their season on February 5 against McNeese in Lake Charles, Louisiana as part of the Twisted Vines Invitational.
