Athletic Training Undergraduate Program
UNDERGRADUATE ATHLETIC TRAINING PROGRAM
Once accepted into the athletic training program by the Texas Tech Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, students will major in Exercise and Sports Sciences, with the Athletic Training option. Students will complete a noncredit internship of at least 1,800 hours over a minimum three-year period, under the direct supervision of the university's full-time athletic training staff.In addition, students must complete the following courses:
KIN 3321 - First Aid
KIN 3323 - Care & Prevention of Athletic Injuries KIN 4301 - Biomechanics
KIN 3305 - Exercise Physiology
KIN 4325 - Athletic Injury Evaluation & Assessment KIN 4327 - Therapeutic Exercise & Modalities
KIN 2291 - Practicum in Athletic Training

MASTER OF ATHLETIC TRAINING PROGRAM Â
In the MAT program, you will join a community of students who come from a variety of backgrounds and educational experiences. The MAT program includes students from all over the United States as well as international students.The MAT program provides you with exposure to a variety of learning environments and experiences, including:
- Traditional classroom work
- Laboratory time to practice learned skills
- Clinical experiences (including immersive experiences) in a variety of settings that integrate classroom and lab work into practice
- Interprofessional education opportunities and shared courses
The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) and designed to prepare you to meet national and state requirements to practice athletic training.Â
