Five Texas Tech Basketball Players Receive Academic All-Big 12 Honors
February 27, 1999 DALLAS, Texas - Three Lady Raider basketball players along with two Red Raider basketball players were named to the 1999 Academic All-Big 12 women's and men's basketball teams, as announced by the Big 12 on Friday. A total of 78 student-athletes league-wide were recognized (51 women, 27 men). Nominated by the directors of student-athlete support serves and the athletic media relations directors, members of the all-academic teams have posted at least a 3.0 grade point average and are letterwinners on their respective teams. Lady Raiders on the All-Academic team are senior Cara Gibbs (family studies), senior Rene Hanebutt (political science), and freshman Amber Tarr (business administration). Red Raider junior Mario Layne (business management) was named to the men's first team while senior James Ware (general studies) was named to the honorable mention team. |
