March is National Athletic Training Month
March 1, 2002 LUBBOCK, Texas - The National Athletic Training Association (NATA) is celebrating National Athletic Training Month during the month of March, announced today by the NATA. This is the second year for the month-long recognition of athletic trainers across the country. National Athletic Training Month provides a unique opportunity for members to educate the public on the role of athletic trainers. The theme for the 2001-2002 school year is "Prevention: Avoid Injury - Stay Active." "This month is set forth to help the public understand the role of the athletic trainer," said Natalie Steadman, Texas Tech Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine, whose staff oversees care for more than 400 student-athletes. "Athletic trainers do more than tape ankles and hand out water. We are in a health care profession." For more information on the National Athletic Training Association and the roles of athletic trainers, log-on to the NATA website at www.nata.org. |
