May 9, 1998 LUBBOCK, Texas - At least 30 student-athletes are among those who will walk across the stage at the Lubbock Municipal Colisum to receive their diplomas Saturday at Texas Tech University. Among the graduating student-athletes at Texas Tech are football players Adrian Ervin, Zebbie Lethridge, Cody McGuire and Chris Whitney. In addition, Lady Raider Kim Sumrall and Brock Barnes of the men's basketball team will receive their diplomas. "We are really proud of the student-athletes that will receive their degrees this spring," said Athletic Director Gerald Myers. "We recruit these athletes with the intention that they will receive their degrees. Those that walk across that stage today set a standard for all those student-athletes that follow them. "I can't express how pleased and excited we are for these fine individuals. I also look forward to watching their progress in postgraduate life and seeing them return to Texas Tech to cheer-on their alma mater."
