Myers Recognized by All-American Football Foundation
June 11, 2004 LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech Director of Athletics Gerald Myers was presented the General Robert R. Neyland Outstanding Athletics Director Award at the All-American Football Foundation's 61st Banquet of Champions Thursday night at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Dallas. Myers, in his seventh year as director of athletics at Texas Tech, was instrumental in the planning and completion of the Jones SBC Stadium renovation project and the new state-of-the-art Football Training Facility. He also was responsible for hiring current Red Raider head football coach Mike Leach, whose era has resulted in increased attendance, ticket sales and revenue for the athletics program. The award is named after former University of Tennessee director of athletics and football coach General Robert R. Neyland. The award also is the second recognition for Myers this spring. He received the prestigious Metropolitan Award from the NABC at the 2004 Final Four in San Antonio for his numerous contributions to college basketball. |
