Millennium Metroplex Classic Sold Out
| Millennium Metroplex Classic Sold Out June 21, 2000 DALLAS - Although the annual Red Raider Club golf tournament in the Dallas Metroplex is sold out for the first time in several years, seats remain to hear Texas Tech head football coach Mike Leach as the featured speaker immediately following the four-man scramble at Bridlewood Golf Club in Flower Mound June 28. The cost of the dinner, program and live auction is $50 per person, with proceeds going toward scholarships through the Red Raider Club. The program also features former Texas Tech All-American and College Football Hall of Fame member E.J. Holub. Several Red Raider coaches and athletic administrators will also be on hand. Brian Jensen, the new play-by-play voice of Texas Tech football and long-time Dallas sports personality, will emcee the event. According to Chris Chapman, Dallas regional director for the Red Raider Club, the Millennium Metroplex Red Raider Golf Classic "sold out in two weeks and has been sold out for two weeks." Chapman said the excitement generated by Leach and his staff has driven the tournament to sell out for the first time in recent memory. Following a catered lunch at noon and a $10,000 putting contest after lunch, the golf tournament will tee off with a shotgun start at 2 p.m. Leach will be on the course to meet and greet the golfers, while other members of the staff play in the scramble. Coaches scheduled to play in the tournament include running backs coach Art Briles, wide receivers coach Sonny Dykes, inside receivers coach Dana Holgorsen and quality control director Dennis Simmons. Tech athletic director Gerald Myers and new head men's golf coach Greg Sands are also slated to play. For additional information concerning the golf tournament, dinner or live auction, contact Chapman in the Dallas Red Raider Club Regional Office at (214) 630-8324. |
