Neals, Sowells Endow Positions
July 18, 2001 LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech Director of Athletics Gerald Myers announced today that Dr. Tom and Nancy Neal and former regent Jim Sowell and his wife, Betsy, are the first to fully endow sports position scholarships for Texas Tech athletics. The Neals have fully endowed the point guard position for the Lady Raider basketball team, while the Sowells endowed the punter position on the Red Raider football team. "We really appreciate Tom and Nancy and Jim and Betsy contributing the first endowed scholarships under this new program," Myers said. "The gifts from the Neals and Sowells are the first of what we hope will be many endowed positions in our sport programs." "Our goal is to endow all positions in all sports," Myers said. "This is an ambitious move, but one that will be beneficial in our efforts to fund scholarships for all of our student-athletes."
