On Friday, September 11, 1998 the Dallas Horizon Campaign will be launched. Alumni and friends will gather to kick off a true Tech Weekend in Dallas on the eve of the gridiron contest between Texas Tech and the University of North Texas.
The centerpiece of this stirring celebration of Texas Tech's past, present and future will be an evening of entertainment by some of the university's most talented alumni.
Already, Mr. E.R. "Dick" Brooks ('61 Engineering) has organized twelve Dallas Horizon volunteer committees who are currently reaching out to the more that 15,000 Dallas area alumni for their vital support of this momentous occasion in the history of Texas Tech.

HE HORIZON CAMPAIGN - BUILDING ON 75 YEARS OF SUCCESS
In September 1995, the Texas Tech Board of Regents voted tobegin an unprecedented Campaign to increase our endowment substantiallyand to improve our campuses. Our goal is for Texas Tech to become both aflagship educational institution within the state and a nationallyrecognized example of excellence in public higher education.
On February 6, 1998, Chancellor John T. Montford announced TheHorizon Campaign, setting the goal of the Campaign at $300 million, andrevealing that more than half of that amount already had been committed.
The Chancellor has challenged the Texas Tech family to reach andexceed the full $300 million goal by February 2001. To date over $200million has been raised.
TEXAS TECH'S ENDOWMENT A healthy endowment for Texas Tech is essential for: Future growth at Texas Tech; attracting top students with such enrichments as scholarships,graduate fellowships and the Honors Program; attracting and retaining the finest faculty; supporting important research initiatives; and, leading change for the betterment of society.
