Mikkel Bjerch-Andresen joined the Texas Tech men's golf staff as its assistant coach on Aug. 11, 2017.
His first season in Lubbock was a memorable one. Bjerch-Andresen helped guide the Red Raiders to their second NCAA Match Play quarterfinals in program history, with a third-place finish at the NCAA Stroke Play Championships.Â
He helped the Red Raiders to three tournament victories during the 2019-20 shortened season with wins at The Carmel Cup, Inverness Intercollegiate and the Big 12 Match Play Tournament. Tech reached a No. 1 ranking for the first time in program history and finished the season ranked No. 3 by Golfstat and No. 5 by Golfweek. Along with team success, Bjerch-Andresen and head coach Greg Sands helped Sandy Scott, Andy Lopez and Markus Braadlie to individual titles during the year. In six stroke play events, the Red Raiders finished in the top-4 five events with a third-place showing at the Southern Highlands Collegiate in the event that would be the final competition before the season was ended due to coronavirus pandemic.
Bjerch-Andresen walked with Adam Blomme for both the NCAA Columbus Regional and the NCAA Championships, and Blomme turned in huge round after huge round in the clutch, including erasing a two-hole deficit to win his NCAA Quarterfinal match.
Â
Andresen came from Stephen F. Austin, where he served as the assistant men's and women's golf coach for the 2016-17 season.
Â
In his lone year on the Stephen F. Austin staff, Andresen helped guide the Lumberjacks to four top-two team finishes, including second place at the Southland Conference Championship. He also helped lead the LadyJacks to six top-five team finishes.
Â
Andresen competed at Baylor from 2011-14 and posted a 73.79 career scoring average, ranking 12th all-time in program history as well as 11th in career rounds played (124). He was named the Big 12 Golfer of the Month in October 2014 after winning medalist honors at the 2014 Royal Oaks Intercollegiate, becoming just the fifth player in program history to earn the award.
Â
During his four-year career at Baylor, Andresen notched seven top-10 finishes and 17 top-25 showings, registering 47 rounds of par or better, including a 6-under 66 on two occasions. He was a two-time Academic All-Big 12 honoree and a five-time Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll member, showing his commitment to the classroom, earning his degree in business.
Â
A native of Baerum, Norway, Andresen played for the Norwegian junior and amateur national golf team from 2009-14. He won the 2010 Titleist Tour Order of Merit, helping Norway to a second place finish at the 2010 European Boys Team Championship in Istanbul, Turkey. Andresen also finished fifth at the 2010 Egyptian Amateur Open while competing in the 2011 British Amateur Championship.
Â
Andresen and his wife, Hannah, were married in October of 2015.
