The Football Training Facility is the home of Red Raider Football.
Built in 2004, the Football Training Facility houses more than 100 student-athletes on a daily basis with athletic training, strength and conditioning and nutrition facilities as well as office space for Texas Tech’s entire coaching staff and support staff. The facility also features the Spike Dykes Team Meeting Room, which boasts auditorium-style seating for every student-athlete, coach and support staff member.
The facility is within steps of the Sports Performance Center, giving the Red Raiders a total of three practice fields to utilize as well as the turf inside Jones AT&T Stadium. Texas Tech unveiled the $48 million facility in 2017, and in the process, upgraded its other two practice fields with a new grass field on the east side of the complex and a new turf surface that meshes with the Gary Petersen Indoor Practice Facility.
Texas Tech has renovated the Football Training Facility several other times in recent years, notably with a $1.6 million upgrade to its locker room that upgraded its amenities with 120 steel lockers to go along with a new players’ lounge, a state-of-the-art lighting system and 60-inch high-definition televisions scattered throughout.
The main lobby to the Football Training Facility was upgraded in 2009 with the installation of a Hall of Fame dedicated to the history and tradition of Texas Tech Football. The redesign included jerseys, trophies, a year-by-year timeline as well as a list of All-Americans and NFL players on display.
In addition, Texas Tech has already begun the design process of additional renovations to the Football Training Facility through The Campaign for Fearless Champions.
