Baseball Defeats Nebraska 6-5

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Texas Tech scored one run in the top of the ninth and starter Shane Wright held off Nebraska in the bottom half of the inning to secure a 6-5 victory Tuesday in game one of a weekday doubleheader in Lincoln.
Texas Tech (33-14, 13-8 Big 12) scored its run in the top of the ninth when Jason Huth scored on a wild pitch. Huth got on base with a double, moved to second on an infield grounder by Keith Ginter and moved to third on another grounder by Josh Bard.
Tech had to battle back from a 5-4 deficit. Ryan Ruiz tied the game in the seventh inning at 5-5 with a solo home run over the right field fence.
Wright (10-1) became the first Big 12 pitcher to reach 10 victories on the season. The junior from Topeka, Kansas pitched his ninth complete game of the season and 13th of his two-year career. He struck out eight batters, walked none and allowed only five runs and 12 hits.
Ryan Ruiz led the Red Raiders with a 2-3 one RBI performance, Jason Landreth went 2-3 with two runs scored, his first home run in 30 at-bats and 40 plate appearances and an RBI, Jason Huth went 2-4 with an RBI.
