LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the ninth with a bases loaded single by Danny Starkins to upset Texas Tech 2-1 in the second half of a double header Tuesday in Lincoln, Neb.
The loss squandered a brilliant performance from junior pitcher Cade Allison. Allison pitched his first career complete game. He went eight innings, allowed eight hits and two runs (two earned) and one walk. Allison, from Odessa, Texas, also struck out seven batters.
Texas Tech managed only two hits and left five runners on base. Nebraska's starting pticher Pete Lythgoe held the Red Raiders to one hit and one run in 7 2/3 innings of work.
Keith Ginter walked three times to lead Texas Tech.
