Baseball Routs Kansas, 18-3

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Texas Tech used several outstanding performances from three players- catcher Josh Bard, third baseman Keith Ginter and pitcher Shane Wright to defeat Kansas 18-3 Friday at Hoglund-Maupin Stadium. The victory improved Texas Tech to 28-12 on the season and 9-6 in the Big 12 Conference while Kansas fell to 16-17 overall and 3-10 in the Big 12.
Bard, playing against his brother, Kansas assistant coach Mike Bard, blasted a career-high three home runs in the game (two of which easily cleared the 25-foot wall in centerfield) along with a triple that caromed off the high centerfield wall. He drove in a career-high eight RBI and scored three runs while finishing 4-6 on the day. Bard also broke the Kansas opponent single game record for RBI in a game with eight.
Ginter tied Texas Tech all-time single game records for hits with six and doubles with three as he finished off a 6-6 day which included five runs scored and three RBI. Ginter also hit his 11th home run of the season.
Wright (8-1), a junior from Topeka, Kansas who was pitching in front of friends and family, completed his 11th complete game of his career and seventh of the season. He struck out 11 batters and allowed only nine hits and three runs (one earned run) in his 9.0 innings.
Texas Tech also had solid performances from Miles Durham who went 3-5, Jason Huth who finished 2-4 with two runs and an RBI, Jason Landreth who finished 2-5 with an RBI and Kevin Jordan who went 2-6 with two RBI and two runs.
