LUBBOCK, Texas - Lady Raider forward Aleah Johnson has been diagnosed with an inflamation of the heart muscle known as viral myocarditis, and will be out of action indefinitely. After complaining of fatigue and shortness of breath, an angiogram was performed on Johnson Thursday. Prognosis of Johnson's condition is good, and will travel Friday with her Lady Raider teammates to Hawaii for the Ala Moana Paradise Classic.
The Carrollton, Texas, native will be re-evaluated by medical staff in early January.
An All-America basketball player at South Plains College before transferring to Texas Tech, Johnson saw action in all eight of Tech's games so far this season, averaging 16.5 minutes, 8.0 points, and 5.6 rebounds per game. She scored a career-high 14 points against Texas-San Antonio on Dec. 2, and a career-high nine rebounds three times this year.
