Lady Raider Head Coach Marsha Sharp
One of the most respected and well-known coaches in Texas Tech history, head coach Marsha Sharp is 379-126 (.750) in her 17th year at the helm of
the Lady Raiders. The 1998 Big 12 Coach of the Year, she has led the Lady Raiders to eight NCAA Tournament appearances, seven consecutive and five NCAA Sweet 16 appearances in six years, including the NCAA National Championship in 1993. While in the SWC, Coach Sharp and the Lady Raiders never finished below third, they won or shared the last five championships,
and they captured three Post Season Classic titles. Sharp captured her 350th career victory during the 1997 NCAA Tournament when on March 16 Tech
defeated Montana, 47-45, in Palo Alto, Calif. A 1974 graduate of Wayland Baptist University, Sharp was named National Coach of the Year in 1993 and 1994. She also reaped SWC Coach of the Year

Wrap-Up of Texas Tech-Texas-San Antonio Game
The Texas Tech Lady Raiders dominated the game from start to finish
with a 96-39 victory over Texas-San Antonio Wednesday night at the Lubbock
Municipal Coliseum. The 57-point winning margin was the most since Nov. 28,
1997 when Tech defeated St. Francis by 56 points (91-35). The largest winning margin for Tech is 77 points, which took place on Jan. 18, 1980 as
the Lady Raiders beat CentralState, 125-48.
Senior guard Rene Hanebutt scored a team-high 19 points while Angie Braziel, this week's Big 12 Conference Women's Player of the Week, collected her second double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Junior forward Aleah Johnson added a career-high 14 points and nine rebounds. Texas Tech head coach Marsha Sharp was encouraged by the production she got from the entire squad.
"We got some good minutes from a lot of people," states Sharp. "When we brought people off the bench, they did a good job of getting up and down the court for us."
After a 50-17 halftime lead, Tech kept applying defensive pressure, creating 19 UTSA turnovers. Tech also shone from the free throw line, hitting 27-of-32 shots from the charity stripe.
About Wisconsin
Under the direction of fifth-year head coach Jane Albright-Dieterle, the Badgers are ranked 21st in the latest USA Today/ESPN
poll while receiving 78 votes in the most recent Associated Press poll. The Badgers are 1-1 against nationally-ranked opponents this season, losing
to Stanford (77-68) but defeating UC-Santa Barbara, 103-90. The Badgers have lost their last two games going into Saturday's contest.
Last season, Wisconsin finished 21-10, sixth in the Big Ten Conference. They return three starters from last year. Sophomore forward LaTonya Sims leads the squad with 17.5 points per contest. Senior center Amy Wiersma tops the Badgers with 5.8 rebounds per game.
As a team, Wisconsin shoots 46.2 percent from the field, but struggle behind the three-point arc (27.3 percent). The Badgers are slightly outrebounded by their opponents (-3.9). Wisconsin averages 76.7 points per game and allow 72.7 opponent points.
About Rice
The Rice Owls enter its tournament with a 3-3 record with wins against Lamar, Illinois State and Southern Illinois. In her sixth year as
head coach, Cristy McKinney guided Rice to 21-9 record last year, posting
an 11-3 WAC Pacific mark. Four starters return for the Owls, led by junior
Marla Brumfield who averages 19.2 points and 5.7 boards per game. Junior
forward Kirra Jordan tops the Owls in rebounding average (7.2). As a team,
Rice puts up 63.0 points per game, allowing 60.8 opponent points. Shooting 33.3 percent from the field, Rice is outrebounded by its opponents, 45.3-39.2.
About Florida A&M
In her ninth year as head coach, Claudette Farmer brings the Rattlerettes into Houston with a 2-3 record, looking to snap a two-game losing streak. Florida A&M return three starters from last year's 19-9 team. Senior center Teresa Jenkins tops the Rattlerettes in scoring, averaging 12.0 points per game. She shares top rebounding honors with teammate Tomeika Peterson - both haul down 6.0 boards per game. As a team,
Florida A&M and its opponents each score 70.6 points per game. The Rattlerettes shoot 42.4 percent from the field, but only average 36.8 rebounds per game, allowing 51.8 opponent rebounds.
The Series Records Between Tech, Wisconsin, Rice, and Florida A&M This is the third meeting between the Lady Raiders and the Badgers. The most recent match-up took place in Lubbock on Dec. 3, 1995, as Tech defeated Wisconsin, 77-69. The previous year, the two teams faced each other at the NCAA Mideast sub-regional held in Lubbock. The Lady Raiders came away with a 88-65 win over the Badgers.
Tech leads the series with the Owls, 27-3, including a 15-game winning streak over Rice. The last meeting between the two teams took place on Dec. 30, 1996 in Lubbock, with the Lady Raiders outlasting the Owls, 76-62. The last time Tech lost to Rice occurred on Jan. 7, 1989 with an 83-67 Lady Raider Southwest Conference loss at Autry Court.
If Tech plays Florida A&M, it will be the first meeting between the two teams.
A Look Ahead ...
The 14th-ranked Lady Raiders return home to face its second (possibly third) Western Athletic Conference opponent as TCU visits the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum on Wednesday, Jan. 9. Gametime is slated for a
7:00 p.m. start.
