Lady Raiders Regroup to Face Oklahoma on the Road
After sustaining a 55-45 loss to Kansas on Saturday, the sixth-ranked Lady Raiders look to get back on the winning track with a midweek contest against Oklahoma in Norman. Texas Tech had its 16-game winning streak snapped while Oklahoma had its two-game winning streak snapped at Texas on Saturday. The Sooners sport a 7-1 home record while the Lady Raiders' two losses took place on the road.

Lady Raider Head Coach Marsha Sharp
One of the most respected and well-known coaches in Texas Tech history, head coach Marsha Sharp is 393-127 (.756) in her 17th year at the helm of the Lady Raiders. The 1998 Big 12 Coach of the Year, she has led the Lady Raiders to eight NCAA Tournament appearances, seven consecutive and five NCAA Sweet 16 appearances in six years, including the NCAA National Championship in 1993. While in the SWC, Coach Sharp and the Lady Raiders never finished below third, they won or shared the last five championships, and they captured three Post Season Classic titles. Sharp captured her 350th career victory during the 1997 NCAA Tournament when on March 16 Tech defeated Montana, 47-45, in Palo Alto, Calif.
A 1974 graduate of Wayland Baptist University, Sharp was named National Coach of the Year in 1993 and 1994. She also reaped SWC Coach of the Year honors seven times, five consecutively. Sharp needs seven victories to eclipse the 400 career-win mark.

Wrap-Up of the TTU-Kansas Game
Lynn Pride scored 19 points, and Kansas held No. 6 Texas Tech to 33-percent shooting and upset the Lady Raiders 55-45 Saturday for its 18th straight home-court victory.
Kansas (14-6, 4-3 Big 12) shot 50 percent from the floor in the second half, and Pride made a key play when she stole the ball and scored on a layup to put the Jayhawks ahead 38-31 with 9:20 left.
Brooke Reves made several key offensive and defensive plays for the Jayhawks in the final 10 minutes, and finished with 11 points and eight rebounds. Nakia Sanford added 11 points for Kansas, and Jaclyn Johnson had 10 rebounds.
Angie Braziel led the Lady Raiders (17-2, 6-1) with 15 points and eight rebounds. Julie Lake added 11 points. Texas Tech scored a season-low 45 points and snapped a 16-game winning streak.
Kansas outrebounded the Lady Raiders, 43-28. Kansas' home winning streak is the sixth longest streak in the nation.
About Oklahoma
Sherri Coale is in her third season as head coach of Oklahoma. The Sooners enter Wednesday's game with an 8-8overall record, 2-4 in Big 12 play. The Sooners have lost four of its last six games - three of those were on the road. Four of Coale's starters average double-figure scoring numbers.
Leading the Sooners is junior forward Phylesha Whaley, who averages a team-high 19.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per contest. Whaley, though, has grabbed nearly nine rebounds per conference game. The Slaton, Texas, native is hitting 50% of her shots.
As a team, the Sooners score slightly over 77 points per game while allowing nearly 67 opponent points. But during conference games, Big 12 opponents have outscored Oklahoma, 73.6 points vs. 70.7 points per game. Oklahoma is turnover-prone, averaging 21 turnovers per contest. The Sooners hold the rebound edge and have been to the free throw line 77 more times than their opponents.
The Series Record...
The Lady Raiders hold a significant edge in the series history with Oklahoma, 15-2. Texas Tech has won 11 straight from the Sooners, including a 93-69 win earlier this month in Lubbock. The last time Tech lost to Oklahoma occurred on Dec. 11, 1982 as the Sooners defeated Texas Tech, 93-91, in overtime in Norman.
Climbing up the Ladder...
After opening the 1998-99 season with a preseason ranking of #12, the Lady Raiders have steadily climbed up in the polls since November. In the weeks following, Texas Tech spent time at #14, #15, #12, #10, #8, #7 and is in its second week at the sixth position in the Associated Press and seventh in the USA Today/ESPN poll.
Earlier this season against Oklahoma...
Rene Hanebutt fired away from outside and Angie Braziel was devastating inside. The combination was more than Oklahoma could handle on Jan. 6 as No. 7 Texas Tech captured its12th straight victory, 93-69. It's the Lady Raiders' best start since the 1993-94 season. Hanebutt scored a career-high 30 points, including a school-record seven 3-pointers, and Braziel chipped in 25 points inside and pulled down 11 rebounds. Texas Tech also got 10 points and 11 rebounds from Cara Gibbs. Stacey Dales led Oklahoma with 28 points. Phylesha Whaley, who entered the game averaging 19.3 points, finished with nine. The Sooners shot 43 percent from the field to 51 percent for Tech.
A Look Ahead ...
After spending four of its last five games on the road, Texas Tech now enjoys the comforts of home for four of its next five games. The Lady Raiders host Baylor on Saturday, Jan. 30, with a 7:00 p.m. tip time. Tech then travels to Austin to take on the Texas Longhorns on Saturday, Feb. 6 for a 7:00 p.m. game.

Texas Tech Tidbits...
The Lady Raiders 16-game winning streak was snapped with a 55-45 loss to Kansas Saturday. Techs 17-2 overall start is still a program-best mark.
Head coach Marsha Sharp needs seven victories to eclipse the 400-career win mark. During her previous 16 years as head coach at Tech, Sharp has averaged 23.5 wins per season.
Sophomore guard Katrisa ONeal comes into Saturdays game with a career 131 steals - good for 10th on Techs all-time career list for steals. She needs five more steals to move into ninth.
Tech posted a few season-low marks against Kansas. They include first-half points (23), second half points (22), total game points (45), field goals made (20), field goal per. (33%), free throws made (1), free throw attempts (5), free throw per. (20%), and assists (10).
Texas Techs three-point deficit at halftime against Kansas marks only the fifth time this season the Lady Raiders went into the halftime break trailing their opponent.
Junior forward Keitha Dickerson, second on the team in rebound average, was held to one rebound against Kansas. The only other time this season Dickerson collected one rebound was against Old Dominion on Nov. 21 - this game also was Techs first loss.
Texas Techs all-time record coming into Wednesdays game is 531-231 for a winning per. of .697.
Senior guard Rene Hanebutt is currently second on Techs all-time career list for three-point field goals made. She comes into Wednesdays game with 229 three-point field goals and needs 28 three-point field goals to become Techs all-time three-point field goal shooter. Noel Johnson currently holds the top spot with 256 three-point field goals made during her career (1991-95).
