LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's basketball team participated in its annual preseason scrimmage before an enthusiastic crowd of over 200 people Thursday night at the Women's Gym on the campus of Texas Tech.
The 12-person Lady Raider squad was down to 10 with freshman Alison Cudnoski suffering a knee injury last Saturday at practice and senior Julie Lake out with the stomach flu. Senior Angie Braziel did play, even though she was under-the-weather.
The scrimmage consisted of four eight-minute quarters with different line-ups each quarter. Braziel led all scorers with 37 points, going 17-of-19 from the floor with three free throws.
"We had some high spots during the scrimmage, but I was a little disappointed in the continuity of the offenses we've been working on," said Texas Tech head coach Marsha Sharp. "It'll be interesting to see how we play during our exhibition games. Those games will give us the opportunity to find any weaknesses before the games we play count for real."
The Lady Raiders open the exhibition season on Wednesday, Nov. 4, against the Houston Jaguars. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum. Admission is free.
