LUBBOCK, Texas - For the fifth consecutive year, attendance at Lady Raider home basketball games was ranked among the top five in the nation. Tech came in fourth this year with a home average of 7,946. That mark set a school record surpassing the 7,936 average that was set during the 1995-96 season.
"We are always pleased to see Lady Raider basketball attendance at the top of the national lists. It just goes to show what a great program we have and how much support we enjoy from the Lubbock community," Judi Henry, Texas Tech Senior Woman's Administrator said.
The Lady Raiders were joined by the University of Texas as the only Big 12 schools to rank in the top ten. The Longhorns had the eighth largest home average with 6,303 per home game, down 1,164 from their 1996-97 average. Tech's average increased by 70 from the previous season.
In overall attendance, Tech ranked eighth with a total of 157,663.
