Lady Raiders Ranked 14th in Basketball News Preseason Poll

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball team is ranked 14th in the 1998-99 inaugural Basketball News preseason women's top 64 poll. The Lady Raiders are the Big 12's lone representative in the poll's top 15. Six other Big 12 schools included in the list are Kansas (#24), Iowa State (#28), Baylor (#31), Colorado (#35), Nebraska (#49), and Texas (#55).

The Lady Raiders' non-conference opponents for the 1998-99 season that are listed in the Basketball News preseason poll include Stanford (#8), Old Dominion (#12), Wisconsin (#21), SMU (#41), Rice - possible opponent (#47), and Hawaii (#51).

Texas Tech returns four starters from last year's Big 12 regular season and Big 12 tournament championship team. Head coach Marsha Sharp, the 1998 Big 12 Coach of the Year, begins her 17th season at the helm of the Lady Raiders with a career record of 376 wins and 125 losses.
