Lady Raiders Ready To Dance

LUBBOCK, Texas - For the second-straight year, the Texas Tech women's basketball team will host the first round of the NCAA Tournament when it plays Southland Conference rival Stephen F. Austin Saturday.
The 10th-seeded Lady Wolfpack of North Carolina State (16-11) will take on seventh-seeded Mississippi State (17-10) in the first game, while the second-seeded Lady Raiders will host 15th-seeded Stephen F. Austin (17-11)in the first round in the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum. The first game will be played at 5:30 p.m. Saturday with the Texas Tech game beginning at approximately 8 p.m. The second round game pitting the two winners against each other will tip-off at 8:30 p.m. Monday and will be televised by ESPN2.
Tickets are available by calling the athletic ticket office at 806/742-4412 or 1-888-Go-Big12. Ticket packages will be priced at $25 for three games. Individual game tickets, if available, would be sold on the day of the first game.
The Lady Raiders finished the season with a 28-3 overall record and second-straight regular-season and tournament Big 12 Conference championships. Marsha Sharp was named the league's Coach of the Year and senior Angie Braziel was named the Big 12 Player of the Year.
Texas Tech enteres the NCAA Tournament riding a nine-game win streak, which includes its second-straight Big 12 Tournament title. The Lady Raiders defeated Iowa State 73-59 in Saturday's championship game in front of a tournament-record 8,127 fans in Kansas City. Iowa State led 32-27 at the half after a 52 percent performance from the field. However, Braziel scored all 19 of her points in the second half and the Lady Raiders outscored the Cyclones by a 46-27 margin for the win.
Braziel and fellow seniors Rene Hanebutt and Julie Lake are combining to score 42.5 points per game, while Keitha Dickerson is averaging 7.9 rebounds for second on the team behind Braziel's league-leading 8.8 per game. Texas Tech is averaging 74.5 points per game and is limiting opponents to a stingy 60.2 points in each outing.
