KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP)-- Texas Tech goes for its second straight Big 12 tournament title when the No. 9 Lady Raiders face No. 21 Iowa State in the tournament finals Saturday.
Texas Tech, the top seed in the tournament, advanced to the championship game by defeating Nebraska 77-59 on Thursday.
Angie Braziel scored 19 points and Julie Lake added 17 as the Lady Raiders outrebounded the Cornhuskers 41-31.
"We had some players step up and make big plays, and that's what tournament play is all about," Texas Tech coach Marsha Sharp said.
Iowa State (22-6) beat No. 25 Kansas 79-64 on Thursday in the semifinals. Stacy Frese led Iowa State with 21 points as the Cyclones hit nine 3-pointers in the win.
Texas Tech routed Iowa State on Jan. 20 in the only meeting between the schools this season. The Lady Raiders held the Cyclones to nine first-half points en route to a 71-47 win. Iowa State shot 3-for-28 from the field in the first 20 minutes of play. Braziel led Texas Tech with 14 points.
The Lady Raiders defeated Kansas in the finals of the Big 12 tournament last season. The Cyclones were eliminated by the Jayhawks in the semifinals.
