Men's Golf Finishes 15th At UTSA

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Texas Tech men's golf team finished in a tie for 15th place with Northeast Louisiana University at the UTSA Invitational with a total score of 637.
After firing an opening round of 322, Texas Tech improved to a second round score of 315 at the Par 72, 7001 yard La Cantera Golf Club. Texas-Arlington (592) won the tournament by one stroke over Nebraska (593). The University of Texas-El Paso finished third with a score of 597. Texas-Arlington's Charan Thethy was the individual champion, shooting two-under-par 70 in the final round to finish at 142 for the tournament. Daniel Fox of Arkansas-Little Rock and Sam Houston State's Phil Sinitiere finished tied for second with total scores of 145.
Cory Henegar and Matt Pitts were the top Tech finishers, both shot 14-over-par 158 to finish in a tie for 49th. Philip Tate finished in a tie for 58th with a 159. Matt Loving (162) tied for 70th and Sean Mulherin (171) tied for 88th place.
The Red Raiders will be in action again on March 19-20 at the Border Olympics held in Laredo, Texas.
