SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Texas Tech men's golf team began the season by shooting a total of 322 in the first round of the UTSA Invitational held at the La Cantera Golf Club. Tech is currently in 14th place at the 36-hole event. The University of Texas-El Paso leads the tournament after shooting a total of 294.
Individually, Corey Henegar leads Tech after shooting 40-39=79, which places him in a tie for 37th place. The Red Raiders currently have three golfers tied at 56th place, Philip Tate, Matt Loving and Matt Pitts all fired opening rounds of 81. UTEP's Ralph Gemoets and Adrian Quintela are tied with the University of Texas-San Antonio's Magnus Dohlvik for first place, after all shot one-under-par 71's.
The two-day tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday, Feb. 23 with the first tee-off time slated for 7:30 am.
