LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's golf team will compete in the 13th annual Louisiana Classics golf tournament Monday and Tuesday, March 9-10, at Oakbourne Country Club. Held in Lafayette, Louisiana, the Southwestern Louisiana event will feature 15 teams and 54 holes on the par 72, 7,002-yard course.
The Red Raiders annually attend the tournament, as senior Tom Baldwin claimed the team's top scoring spot last year with a three-round total of 226. Returning letterwinners Philip Tate and Laird Sparks also competed in 1997. This year's field consists of Baylor, Rice, Southern Methodist, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Colorado, Kansas, Tulsa, North Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, Nebraska and Kansas State. The lineup includes nine Big 12 conference schools.
This will be the team's final tournament before breaking until March 28-29, resuming play at the 1998 Border Olympics.
