Missouri Downs Texas Tech 7-0 in Baseball

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Missouri used a three-hit shutout from pitcher Jody Harris to defeat Texas Tech Friday at Simmons Field. Missouri improved to 8-5 overall and 1-3 in the Big 12 while Texas Tech dropped to 3-1 in the Big 12 and 14-5 overall.
Missouri's win snapped Texas Tech's eight-game winning streak.
Harris (3-0) held Texas Tech scoreless and to only three hits in a complete game nine inning performance. The lefty completed his second game in a row after retiring 16 consecutive batters. Tech got hits from Marco Cunningham, who led off the game with a single, Brennan Burns and Lance Woodcock.
Shane Wright (4-1) earned the loss for Texas Tech. After battling sickness all week, Wright pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowed 11 hits and five runs (five ER) and walked a career-high tying three batters. He struck out five batters.
Missouri first got on the board in the third inning with a run on Aaron Wilson's RBI single. The Tigers got two more in the fourth on an RBI single from Jon Williams and a double-play which scored a run. The Tigers went up 5-0 with two more runs in the fifth on RBI singles from Mick Weiss and Ryan Stegall.
Game two of the three-game series in Columbia is at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Game three is Sunday at 1 p.m.
