LUBBOCK, Texas -
Texas Tech vs. Baylor (Jan. 30, 1999) Post-Game Press Conference
Texas Tech University
Quoting Texas Tech Head Coach Marsha Sharp
"It seems like nothing we have done lately has been pretty or easy. I dont know if you would call it sloppy or the strength of the Big 12 Conference but whatever you call it-we will take it. I thought the turning point of the game came with 4 minutes left when we were able to put in our 4 senior combination---that was the best combination we had all night long. Julie Lake played better tonight than she has since her injury. She did some things tonight that we expected out of her at the first of the season. I am really happy we have the week off because we really need it--we have some tired legs. I am very glad to get Baylor out of the way. I just hope we dont draw them in the Big 12 Tournament. They play us well down low and on the perimeter. They are very athletic and have a great team."
Quoting Texas Techs Julie Lake "Baylor came ready to play as they always do. They are a tough team and we had to settle down and play hard to win tonight."
On Free Throw Shooting "I just try to put everybody out of mind and concentrate on the basket. I try to pretend like we are in practice. I dont think I have ever been to the line that much during a game."
Quoting Texas Techs Angie Braziel "Personally, I thought I didnt play well enough to help the team tonight. I didnt do the things I have been doing. I took a lot of bad shots and am dissapointed but the team really stepped up and played hard."

Quoting Head Coach Sonja Hogg "We have come a long way from 46 (deficit a few years ago here in Lubbock) that makes the ride back to Waco a little easier. I thought the kids played well. We just didnt take care of the basketball and that really hurt us. Julie made a big difference in the game, especially from the free throw line. But, in the end the turnovers got us. I was pleased with our rebounding because that is something we havent done well the last few games. When you have players like Braziel, Dickerson and Lake craxhing the boards-it is hard--but I think we did a good job. I told our players that if we can come out of the dressing room, on the road, with the same intensity and fire--we will win some road games."
Quoting Baylors Lara Webb "It was a close game down to the wire. With the fouls at the end of the game they were able to blow us away. But, it didnt indicate how close the game really was. We just got stuck sometimes on the offensive side. We were stuck on 46 (points) a long time. Actually, we were stuck on few numbers for a long time."
Quoting Baylors Danielle Crockrum "We knew that Angie(Braziel) like to shoot over her right shoulder so we played behind her to make her take bad shots. It was a big difference. It really hurts to lose this one because when you play with all your heart--it makes it really tough. I felt like we played our best."
