LUBBOCK, Texas - After the last four games on the road, the Texas Tech women's soccer team came back home to R.P. Fuller Stadium and celebrated with a 3-2 win over TCU Friday afternoon. With its first home win of the season, the Red Raiders improve to 3-2-1 while TCU's three-game winning streak was snapped. The Horned Frogs now record a 4-3 mark.
Tech got on the scoreboard first six minutes into the game as junior midfielder Lizzy Biles collected her first goal of the season off a pass from teammate Ashlyn Peterson. The Red Raiders increased their lead to 2-0 at the 29:11 mark when junior forward Kristy Frantz tapped in a shot off a touch pass from Amy Rutstein. TCU cut the Tech lead in half when Crystal Pratz fired in a rebounded shot off Red Raider goalkeeper Brittney Peese at 38:27. Rutstein recorded her fifth goal of the season when she went one-on-one with Horned Frog goalkeeper Keith Ann Wagner at 74:21. TCU collected its final goal of the day when Nicole Kitagawa put in a pass from Allison Calleri with less than five minutes remaining in the contest.
Texas Tech gets back on the road for its next four games as Big 12 Conference play begins. The Red Raiders face Missouri in Columbia on Friday, Oct. 2 with a 4 p.m. start. On Sunday, Oct. 4, Tech goes to Lawrence to play Kansas beginning at 1 p.m.
