Red Raiders Tie Evansville, 2-2, at Butler Soccer Invitational

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - After two overtimes, the Texas Tech women's soccer team and Evansville settled for a 2-2 tie Sunday afternoon on the final day of the Butler Invitational in Indianapolis.
In a very physical contest, 25 fouls were called, including four cautions. The Red Raiders (2-2-1) were outshot by Evansville, 24-9, as Tech freshman goalkeeper Brittney Peese recorded the team's second-highest save total ever for a single game with 16.
Evansville's Shelean Roylance opened the scoring at the 41st minute mark. Tech forward Kristy Frantz countered two minutes later to knot the game, 1-1, going into halftime. Red Raider senior forward Amy Rutstein recorded her fourth goal of the year at 71:00, giving Tech the lead. Freshman Krista McKendree tied the game for Evansville, 2-2, with three minutes remaining in regulation time.
Texas Tech returns home after playing four of its first five games on the road. The Red Raiders face Western Athletic Conference opponent TCU on Friday, Sept. 25. Game time is 3 p.m. at R.P. Fuller Stadium.
