WALNUT, Calif. - Texas Tech University's men's and women's track and field members recorded solid marks in Sunday's final day of competition at the 40th Annual Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California. Both the men's and women's 4x100 meter relay teams crossed the line with the second best time among the heats in the university division. The men recorded a time of 40.32 seconds, while the women's time was 46.04, both clocking season-best times.
In Sunday's university competition, 10 Red Raiders and three relay units saw action. Among them was Josephus Howard, who made his return to the track after suffering a hamstring injury during the indoor season. Howard clocked a time of 21.13 in the 200 meters and added the third leg of the 4x400 meter relay unit. Other strong performances for the Red Raiders include Desmond Johnson and Shameron Turner who went 1-2 in first heat of the 400.
More than 35 college and university teams competed in the meet, along with runners from some of the nation's top track clubs. Complete results can be found on the meet's web page at http://ibm.mtsac.edu/relays/1998.
